During an episode of ‘The View’, Whoopi Goldberg surprised Alyssa Farrah Griffin with a question about her pregnancy. Whoopi abruptly paused in the middle of her sentence and asked Alyssa, a political strategist turned TV personality, if she was expecting a baby. Alyssa, who has been married to her husband Justin Griffin since 2021, reacted with shock and leaned back from the table, exclaiming, “No! Oh, my God.”
Alyssa then laughed and jokingly mentioned that her mother-in-law has been eagerly waiting for her to get pregnant. She asked, “Do I look pregnant? Please tell me it’s not my tummy.” Whoopi replied that Alyssa did appear to have a pregnancy glow, to which Alyssa responded, “I’m very open to being pregnant soon. I am not blessed to be pregnant yet, but we are thinking about it. We’re working on it. I’m pretty sure (I’m not.)”
The exchange caught the attention of the co-hosts Joy Behar, Sara Haines, and Sunny Hostin, who watched as the awkward moment unfolded. Sunny lightened the mood by saying, “We like babies at The View because we can have baby showers.” Sara joked that Alyssa’s first boy should be named Whoopi, but Whoopi advised against naming the baby after her.
Some social media users criticized Whoopi’s remarks as inappropriate, suggesting that she should not have brought up the topic on live TV. One person commented online, “For reasons obvious and not-so-obvious, Whoopi should have kept her suspicion to herself and mentioned it to Alyssa Farah Griffin only in private.” Another person questioned, “Now, why would Whoopi embarrass Alyssa like that? Some things shouldn’t be blurred out on live TV.”
Alyssa officially became a permanent member of the 26th season of ‘The View’ in 2022, taking the place of Meghan McCain. She got engaged to her partner Justin in 2020.
