Mike Tyson’s fans were required to spend £81 (€95) in-store to obtain a raffle ticket for a chance to meet him at the grand opening of his cannabis coffee shop in Amsterdam. The legendary boxer greeted his supporters as he inaugurated Mike Tyson Coffee Shop 2.0 in the Dutch capital. However, they had to make a significant purchase in the store to receive a raffle entry in order to meet their idol.
During an interview with the press at the Spuistraat store, Tyson expressed his satisfaction, stating, “This is what I’ve always desired. I’ve been to this place numerous times as a teenager, and I’ve always aspired to be part of the cannabis industry.”
It was previously reported that Tyson’s cannabis products, sold under his Tyson Holistic label since 2016, generate an estimated £500,000 per month. The 57-year-old former heavyweight champion claimed that he maintains his physical fitness by consuming magic mushrooms and smoking cannabis daily.
He stated in an interview with the Daily Star last year, “Cannabis is beneficial for me when it comes to working out. I regret not smoking during my boxing career – I feel like I missed out as an athlete. However, if I had smoked during my boxing career, I probably wouldn’t have been as aggressive. I also enjoy taking mushrooms and smoking before fights. I consume psychedelics on a daily basis, including mushrooms.”
Tyson, most famously known for his ear-biting incident during a fight against Evander Holyfield in 1997, serves as the CEO of Tyson 2.0, a cannabis brand that produces the popular ‘Mike Bites’ edibles, shaped like Holyfield’s ear. Tyson mentioned that he has earned hundreds of thousands of dollars simply from selling images of himself biting people’s ears, expressing his gratitude and acknowledging that things could have turned out differently.
Tyson’s business also offers high-quality marijuana strains and extracts, and he is currently constructing a 418-acre marijuana-themed resort that he hopes will host a music festival to rival Coachella. The resort will include a luxury hotel, glamping tents, and a Tyson University that aims to educate individuals interested in cannabis cultivation.
Tyson admitted to consuming up to £40,000 worth of his own marijuana supply each month. He also believes that cannabis oil products can help individuals overcome other dependencies and shared his personal experience, stating, “I’ve been in the fighting world for over 20 years, and my body has endured a lot of wear and tear. I’ve had two surgeries, and I used marijuana to calm my nerves and alleviate pain. In the past, they had me on opiates, which had a negative impact on me.”
Due to his sciatica condition, Tyson relies on the medicinal properties of cannabis.
