Linda Evangelista, the model, expressed her belief that she deserved the disfigurement caused by a failed cosmetic procedure. In the past, she has spoken about how CoolSculpting left her feeling deformed and attributed it to the loss of her career and the bumps that appeared on her body. The new Apple TV+ docuseries ‘The Super Models’ addresses Linda’s trauma, along with the experiences of Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, and Christy Turlington.
In the documentary, Linda is shown processing her emotions on camera as she reflects on her ordeal. The directors of ‘The Super Models’, Roger Ross Williams and Larissa Bill, revealed that it was an emotional interview. Linda believed she deserved the disfigurement despite their reassurances that she did not. The interview had everyone, including the crew, in tears. Linda opened up about things she had never talked about before, expressing feelings of guilt and processing her emotions in real time.
As a result of a rare reaction to CoolSculpting, Linda experienced depression and spent six years isolating herself from the world. In an interview with British Vogue, she admitted to feeling so depressed that she hated herself. In September 2022, Linda announced on Instagram that she had filed a lawsuit against Zeltiq Aesthetics in New York for the injuries she suffered as a result of the procedure. The lawsuit has since been settled.
Linda, who has a child and has been previously married to actor Kyle MacLachlan, expressed regret for taking the risk of undergoing the procedure. While she appreciates the support she received from her friends and the industry, she acknowledges that her mental healing is an ongoing process. She stated that her disfigurement would make it difficult for her to find jobs without relying on retouching or other tricks to hide the effects of the procedure.
