The teaser of Kiran Rao’s upcoming film ‘Laapataa Ladies’ was released on Friday, providing a glimpse into the chaotic search for two missing brides. Kiran, who previously directed ‘Dhobi Ghat’ in 2010, has once again teamed up with Aamir Khan for this project.
The teaser offers a highly entertaining portrayal of rural India, as it showcases the hilarious mess created in the quest to find the two lost brides. The character of Deepak Kumar, a newly married groom, is introduced, and the audience is taken on a train journey where his wife mysteriously disappears after just three days of marriage. Deepak is shown filing a report at the police station with the help of his friend, played by Ravi Kishan as inspector Shyam Manohar.
Another scene reveals a man reporting the disappearance of his own wife at a different police station. The teaser highlights the confusion and concern among both authorities and the families of the missing brides, wondering how two women could vanish from the same train.
The film features a talented cast including Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan. It has also been screened at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). ‘Laapataa Ladies’ is directed by Kiran Rao, produced by Aamir Khan and Jyoti Deshpande, and presented by Jio Studios. It is a joint production of Aamir Khan Productions and Kindling Productions, with the script adapted from an award-winning story by Biplab Goswami. The film is scheduled to release on January 5, 2024.
