Johnny Depp has been finding solace in music for a long time. Since winning his defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard in 2022, the actor has been touring with his supergroup, Hollywood Vampires, which includes Alice Cooper, Joe Perry, and Tommy Henriksen.
In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Depp revealed that playing guitar and singing has always been his quickest way to connect with his emotions. He explained, “Music has always been the fastest, most effective way for me to experience feelings, emotions, and memories. When I apply those things to my work, I can transport myself back to moments I lived thirty years ago or draw from various memories.”
He continued, “For me, music has always been incredibly important. It has always been connected to that blues guitar, which has the beauty of rock ‘n’ roll but also the elegance of Bach and Mozart.”
There were speculations about the end of Johnny’s Hollywood career due to Amber’s allegations against him. However, after winning the defamation suit, he received $15 million in damages and has made a successful comeback in acting.
Johnny has recently starred in the film ‘Jeanne du Barry’ and is currently directing a film about the artist Modigliani, featuring his friend Al Pacino. In his conversation with the South China Morning Post, he also promoted his new deal with Dior to advertise its Sauvage fragrances, for which he reportedly received $20 million.
Johnny expressed his connection to the scent, stating, “Sauvage has become an integral part of my daily routine, just like getting dressed. It’s a fragrance that I feel a deep connection to, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it. It’s become my signature scent. I’ve always used aftershave, whether it was Aqua Velva, Brut, or Old Spice, but I fell in love with this one. I’ve been wearing it for ages after shaving, and it has become a constant in my life.”
