Gene Simmons, the 74-year-old rock star from KISS, stated that he would never leave his wife, Shannon Tweed, even if she cheated on him. Gene and Shannon have been together since 1983 and got married in 2011. They have two children together, Nick and Sophie. Although Gene admitted to cheating on his wife in the past, he affirmed that he would not walk away from their relationship if the situation were reversed.
In an interview with the Guardian newspaper, Gene Simmons declared, “No, absolutely not, that will never happen. This will be the only marriage I ever have because my definition of marriage isn’t based on that stuff, it’s based on somebody who in a real sense will give their life for you.” He emphasized that his commitment to Shannon goes beyond infidelity, citing the fact that they have created two beautiful lives together – their children.
Furthermore, Gene acknowledged his own past behavior, boasting about having been with around 4,000 women. However, he attributed men’s tendency to cheat to their foolishness. According to Gene, men are prone to making irrational decisions when their sexual desires cloud their judgment. He even compared men’s sexual attraction to a mirage, explaining that it is like a 14-year-old boy who can’t think straight. Despite admitting guilt, he categorized men’s actions as foolish rather than excusable.
In 2018, Gene made similar comments in an interview with US Weekly, suggesting that women forgive cheating men because they have a broader perspective. He recognized women’s capacity for forgiveness and their ability to see the bigger picture. Gene also admitted that men struggle with understanding emotions and rely on women to provide that emotional component in relationships.
