Drea de Matteo has revealed that she joined OnlyFans after facing a decline in her acting career due to her decision not to get vaccinated against Covid-19. The 51-year-old ‘Sopranos’ star announced her venture into the X-rated platform in August, using a clever play on words by calling it ‘The Sopornos’. She is now charging $15 a month for her explicit content.
Speaking to Fox Digital, Drea explained that her decision to join OnlyFans was influenced by her agent dropping her and the risk of losing her house as a result of not complying with Hollywood’s vaccine mandates. She expressed her surprise at the sudden change in her life and the need to explore new career options because the industry deemed her a “savage” for not following the rules. She stated her desire to avoid being at the mercy of mandates or strikes in the future.
Drea regularly shares her controversial views on vaccines on her OnlyFans account. Reflecting on her decision to join the platform, she realized that she could monetize her content by embracing her sexuality, even if it deviated from her previous online presence. She viewed it as an opportunity to provide for her children while admiring stay-at-home moms who prioritize raising their kids.
Drea acknowledged the criticism she received for joining OnlyFans but brushed it off, emphasizing her resilience and refusal to accept defeat. She also discussed her earnings from ‘The Sopranos’, where she was initially paid only $500 per episode in the first season. Despite the show’s success, the cast does not receive residuals. Drea won an Emmy for her role as Christopher Moltisanti’s loyal girlfriend but acknowledged that she did not have enough screen time to accumulate significant wealth from the series.
