After a three-year break, Ayushmann Khurrana has returned to the spotlight. Despite a somewhat decent 2020 with Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan scoring 50 runs and Gulabo Sitabo being the first Bollywood film to release on OTT, 2021 and 2022 were tough with Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, Anek, Doctor G, and An Action Hero failing at the box office. Dream Girl 2 seemed like Ayushmann’s last chance to shine, and fortunately, it worked out.
The film has crossed the 100 Crore mark, despite the dominance of Gadar 2 and the looming threat of Jawan. Taking a brave step, Dream Girl 2 released amidst all the action and not only did good business but also crossed the 100 Crore mark.
With this success, Ayushmann now has four centuries to his name. Dream Girl 2 ranks at the top, followed by Bala at the fourth position. Although Dream Girl 2 will score less than Bala, it is still a good achievement considering the five disappointments that Ayushmann had before it.
Now, everyone is eager to know Ayushmann’s next move as there is a lot of suspense surrounding his upcoming projects. There have been no official announcements about any new movies he has signed so far. Ayushmann has experimented with different types of roles, but his success has mainly come from comedies. It remains to be seen whether he will select another comedy or something different for his next project. We will find out soon.
