Amongst the numerous explosive movies dominating the screen and box office, such as Oppenheimer and Barbie, there was also Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, Part One, starring Tom Cruise. Despite its high budget, placing it at 15th on the list, the film faced an unfortunate box office update.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One served as the seventh installment in the franchise, introducing a new sub-branch. Alongside Cruise, it featured Hayley Atwell, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, and a talented ensemble. Although the reviews were mixed, the movie initially performed well at the box office.
However, after over a month, it has concluded its run on the big screen, earning over half a billion dollars worldwide. Sadly, despite its impressive numbers, it still suffered a $40 million loss, making it an unprofitable venture for the producers.
According to a report by Fandom Wire, Mission Impossible 7 may have achieved remarkable stunts and potentially made an impact on the box office, but it failed to make a significant dent for the producers. The film had an astonishing budget of $291 million, ranking it as the 15th most expensive movie. Consequently, it needed to exceed $600 million in earnings to break even.
Unfortunately, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, also known as Mission Impossible 7, only managed to accumulate $560 million globally, falling $40 million short of breaking even. This has resulted in considerable losses for the movie makers. One possible explanation could be the overshadowing effect of the simultaneous releases of Oppenheimer and Barbie, both of which are raking in billions at the box office.
