Cillian Murphy’s film Oppenheimer continues to be a huge success at the box office worldwide. Despite facing tough competition, the niche-flavored film has surpassed Christopher Nolan’s Inception to become his third highest-grossing film. Read on to find out more!
Released on July 21st, this biographical thriller had a high-profile clash with Margot Robbie’s Barbie. Luckily, both films received positive reviews and feedback from audiences. The social media trend of #Barbenheimer also greatly boosted the releases, leading to a tremendous response at the ticket windows.
Even after a month and a half, Oppenheimer is still earning impressive numbers, especially with its release in China. Currently, the film has grossed $890.98 million at the worldwide box office, surpassing Inception’s $837.18 million, according to Box Office Mojo. This makes it Christopher Nolan’s third highest-grossing film globally.
Interestingly, despite Oppenheimer’s higher worldwide collection, Inception still holds the top spot in IMDb ratings. With a staggering 2.5 million votes, Inception is rated 8.8 out of 10. On the other hand, Oppenheimer stands at a respectable 8.6 out of 10.
Before the theatrical run concludes, it is expected that Oppenheimer will reach the $900 million mark, but it will unfortunately miss the opportunity to reach $1 billion.
