Pete Davidson revealed during a recent performance in Atlantic City, New Jersey, that he took ketamine every day for a period of four years. The former ‘Saturday Night Live’ star also opened up about his recent stint in rehab, expressing his hope that it would be the successful one this time. Davidson joked with the crowd, stating, “I am fresh out of rehab, everyone. I got that post-rehab glow. Seventh time’s the charm!” He further reflected on his ketamine use, describing it as magical and even shared a peculiar experience of getting The Wiggles to mesh with ‘Schindler’s List’.
In 2018, the 29-year-old comedian admitted that he attended Aretha Franklin’s funeral while high and expressed disbelief at himself for going out in public in such a state. Davidson also revealed that one of the reasons he checked into rehab was the approaching milestone of turning 30 in November. He believed that doing drugs in his 30s wouldn’t be cute anymore and that he would just be seen as a drug addict.
Pete Davidson has been open about his struggles with mental health and has previously admitted to constantly battling depression. In a YouTube interview with Charlamagne tha God, he confessed, “I’m always depressed, all the time. I have to constantly bring myself out of it. I wake up depressed. My rock bottom is when people are scared for my life and I have to go away, and then I have to bring myself back up again. I think I’ve hit it a few times.”
The ‘Bupkis’ star reportedly checked into rehab to address issues related to PTSD and borderline personality disorder. While ketamine is commonly used as an anaesthetic in both veterinary and human medicine, its use as an antidepressant has been regarded as a significant breakthrough in the treatment of mental health disorders.
