Hollywood star Nicolas Cage has expressed his appreciation for when his late father, August Coppola, appears in his dreams. He shared this sentiment during the world premiere of his new film ‘Dream Scenario’ at the Toronto International Film Festival. Cage’s character in the film enters other people’s dreams, making his own dreams a topic of discussion during the event.
Despite not having seen his father in person since his passing, Cage considers it a positive experience when August Coppola shows up in his dreams. August Coppola, brother of ‘The Godfather’ trilogy director Francis Ford Coppola, passed away from a heart attack at the age of 75 in 2009.
In a touching tribute to his father, Cage named his 1-year-old daughter August Francesca Coppola after him. He and his wife Riko Shibata welcomed their daughter on September 7, 2022. Coincidentally, Cage found himself at the Toronto International Film Festival the day after celebrating his daughter’s first birthday, creating a new tradition for himself.
Cage spoke about this experience, saying that he feels transported to the festival and considers it a positive tradition. He also mentioned that he had a nice time celebrating his daughter’s birthday and expressed his excitement about promoting his new film ‘Dream Scenario.’ Cage is a father to two sons from previous relationships, Weston and Kal-El.
‘Dream Scenario’ is a new A24 film helmed by writer-director Kristoffer Borgli and co-producer Ari Aster, and Cage left home after his daughter’s birthday celebrations to support its promotion.
